Projects
At Galilee Bible Camp, we recognize that we are stewards of the funds that the Lord has provided, and do everything we can to ensure that we are being good stewards. Through preventative maintenance to buildings, equipment and other resources, to building new resources, we keep in mind our vision and mission to see others come to know Jesus as their Saviour, and for believers to be drawn closer to the Lord in their walk with Him. No projects are started unless all of the funds are available to complete it. Here are some projects that we have recently completed, are currently in process, or anticipate completing, as the Lord provides!
2023 Projects
Gazebo

The gazebo needs to be restained, and have new screens and doors installed. We hope to complete this prior to the summer camp season. Approximately cost is $1,750
Lodge Renovations
We expect to update the upstairs lodge rooms with new heaters, bunk bed ladders and railings, and give each room a fresh coat of paint. Expected cost is about $1500.
Automated Generator

With the many power outages that we get at camp, we would like to install an automated generator that would service the dining hall, water room, and all buildings except the lodge and the workshop. Expected cost is about $25,000. We hope to complete this in the spring of 2021!
Cabin Renovations / Pioneer Village
In 2021, we need to finish the deck on Cabin 1, and hope to renovate cabin 2, and possible 3, as time and funds permit. Renovating a cabin includes lifting the cabin to re-level it, stripping the current siding, replacing any wood that has rotted, installing a new door, windows, insulation and siding. It also includes installing a heater in the cabin, to enable greater use throughout the year. The cost of each cabin is approximately $8,000-$10,000.
All of the cabins need new railings and ladders installed with the bunk beds that meet code. There are 2 -5 in each cabin that need done, with each one being a custom fit. Approximately cost $1,200. This is a very time consuming project.
In 2020, a pioneer village was donated to camp. All of the buildings are in place. In the spring, each of the buildings needs a bit of finessing to get ready for the summer camp season, including the installation of flooring, decks, etc.
Waterfront

While the waterfront needs a new dock system, in 2021, we are looking to fix and / or replace the retaining wall(s), and possibly the cabana, the life jack storage (boating side), and install other storage areas at the waterfront. Part of this would include adding an additional life jacket storage on the waterfront side.
In 2020, due to COVID, we were not able to have our regular programming. We were able to get numerous projects completed, for which we are very thankful. Some of them are listed below:
Walk-in Fridge / Freezer
The walk in fridge freezer was replaced.
Lodge Exterior

New siding was installed on the lodge in 2012. As per the manufacturer’s guidelines, they recommend repainting every 7 years. The estimated cost to repaint is $3,000. We hope to complete in the next year or two. UPDATE: As of September 2020, the lodge exterior has been completely repainted.
Lodge Renovations
The men’s and women’s washrooms have been repainted, with a cost of about $2000 (January 2020).
The chapel was renovated and an office and sound booth were installed at the back of the chapel, and a closet at the front of the chapel. A fresh coat of paint, new window coverings, and new lights, give the chapel a fresh look.
The lounge received a fresh coat of paint and new window coverings, as well, giving an updated look.
Cabin Renovations
In 2020, we renovated Cabin 1. A new deck will be installed in the Spring (2021).
Gymnasium (Heater and Lighting)
In November 2019, all of the lights in the gym were replaced with LED lighting / fixtures.
In October 2020, two heaters with spiral ductwork were installed, providing heat in the gym.
Upcoming Projects
These are projects that we would like to take on over the next 3-5 years, as the Lord provides. We do not commence on any project, until all of the funds have been provided.

Waterfront
The current dock system has been in place for almost 50 years. It is very susceptible to the ice thawing and freezing, water levels fluctuating (beavers), and as a result, has taken quite a beating. In 2017, we had to remove the diving boards, as the concrete structure was cracked. The retaining wall at the waterfront is leaning, and several of the storage units (cabana, life jackets, canoe storage) are deteriorating. A new dock system needs to be engineered and built, along with the storage units. The estimated cost to replace – $50,000

Cabins
Most of the 14 cabins that our campers and staff sleep in were built in the 1960’s. While the structures are relatively sound, the electrical, insulation, siding, windows and doors need to be replaced. The cost to upgrade a cabin is approximately $8,000/each, with the entire project costing between $100,000 – $120,000. Our desire is to renovate all of the cabins over the next 6 -7 years.
In July 2019, Cabin B was renovated as a prototype for the cabins. It is much more energy efficient.
In 2020, Cabin 1 was renovated, and a new electrical panel was installed. Each cabin is now on its on breaker, and as cabins are renovated, a heater will be installed as well.

Electrical Upgrades
Currently, the pole that services camp is reaching the end of its life. The cost to replace the pole is approximately $3,000. (In June 2019, we replaced the hydro pole at the dining hall for about $2,500). Whether beavers taking down trees, or stormy weather, power outages are a common thing at camp.
Gymnasium
The siding on the gymnasium is several decades old and needs to be replaced. The cost to replace the side on the gym is going to be well over $20,000.

Hockey Arena
Many hours of fun occur on the hockey rink each winter. The current process takes a fair amount of snow to pack down, and then numerous floods to get the hockey rink ready for hockey. Snowfalls and inclement weather can impact the quality of ice, not to mention the amount of labour involved. The new hockey rink would have a concrete pad with drainage, that could be flooded with 3-4 inches of water for ice, and be covered (likely with a steel roof and open sides), to minimize the impact of the weather (snow and sun). In the summer, basketball poles / nets could be put in place, providing a shaded area for our summer campers to play baskeball. The estimated cost to build the new hockey arena – $175,000.
Until this can be completed, three of the poles need to be replaced, with new lights being installed on all of the poles for the area. Update: Three new poles and new LED lights were installed in November 2019.
