So you’re interested in serving at Galilee Bible Camp this summer?
Here’s an overview of some of the service opportunities that are available:
- Serving for a specific camp session. If you are able to spend a week serving here we’d be happy to hear from you! There is no minimum number of weeks of service required, and we thank God for the energy and enthusiasm that incoming staff bring when they show up for their week!
- Serving for a number of camp sessions. If you are available to serve for multiple weeks that would be great, too! Staff who serve for 2 or 3 sessions can get a discount on their registration for Youth Camp, and those who serve for 4 or more sessions will be considered for an honorarium, as funds are available for this.
- Serving for the full summer. We have a few full-summer positions each summer, for those that can serve and provide some leadership in areas such as housekeeping, kitchen, maintenance, office administration, tech support, and the waterfront. The staff chosen for these “Summer Jobs” positions are generally a bit older and more experienced in service at camp. The financial support for staff in these roles is also dependent on available funds, but our desire is that those serving in these roles would receive an amount that would be significantly more than the typical honorariums.
Here’s an overview of the staff application process:
- Start by visiting our online Staff Application site here and submitting your application online.
- One or more references, none of whom can be immediate family members, are then needed to complete the application process.
- All staff are required to have our Spiritual Reference Form completed by someone from their local church who serves as an elder, pastor, or youth leader. This is the only reference required for returning staff (those who have served at Galilee during a summer session).
- New staff (those that are applying to serve in the summer at Galilee for the first time) are also required to have our Personal Reference Form completed by TWO people (including someone who knows them from outside their local church context).
- Once completed applications have been received (including references), camp staff will begin reviewing them and communicating with applicants about opportunities for service. We hope to contact Summer Jobs applicants by the middle of March, and all other applicants by the middle of May.
- Staff that are chosen to serve on staff will be asked to submit additional paperwork (including emergency contact information and health information), and those that are at least 18 years old will need to ensure that camp has a recent police check on file for them.
- These police checks must include a Galilee-specific vulnerable sector check, and staff will need to use this Volunteer Police Check Letter to request this either online or at their local police station (right-click on the link in order to save the link / download the file).
