PAST 2021 SUMMER PROGRAMMING

May 18, 2021

…………………………………………………………………………………

In light of the ongoing COVID pandemic, and in consultation with other camps, the board of directors has made a decision to change the summer camp programming for 2021. We would love to provide a “traditional” summer camp experience, but feel that this isn’t feasible.

You may have heard the government announcement this past Sunday, stating that they will be allowing Ontario summer camps to open. While this is potentially exciting news,  no details were provided on what that will look like, including what public health measures will be needed to have overnight kids camps or day camps.  (e.g. vaccines, masks, social distancing). The safety and enjoyment of our campers and staff is a priority for us.  The board does not feel that we can move forward this summer with overnight kids camps and day camps in light of the timing of this announcement, the potential health restrictions and our need to  balance the children’s camp experience and safety.

Moving forward, the board has made the decision to run eight weeks of “Galilee Getaway”.  This is an opportunity for families to “book a site” at camp. Campers will have the option of staying in a cabin, lodge, or bringing their own tent / camper, and staying in our back field. A fire pit will be provided for each reservation.  Each camp will run Sunday (registration after 3pm) through Friday (checkout before noon). Breakfast, lunch and supper will be included as part of the registration. Unlike traditional “family” camps with a lot of facilitated programming, families will be largely responsible to use the camp-grounds and arrange their own activities. While we would encourage families to come for the week, there is an option for nightly rates as well. Because of the complexities of COVID parameters, a minimum one night’s registration will be required (no “day use, or outside visitors”). More details will be provided and reservations can be made on the website, as of Friday, May 21st (www.galileebiblecamp.ca). Please check the Galilee website frequently. We will be updating it as Government regulations and procedures are shared, and we develop our Galilee Getaway summer programing.
